Dating Idol Week 12
Dating Idol Week 12. The story continues...
Dating Idol - Day 78
I finally got to meet up with the girls. Everyone has been busy with work and life lately it seems. They did go apeshit when I mentioned Greg was a cop. They wanted to kill me for not knowing what color his uniform was/is. Like I could come up with a reasonable way to ask that question without sounding...shallow. What if he tells me it is brown? Am I going to dump him? Ha. Dump him. Like we’re even an item yet.
I also mentioned to the girls that he hasn’t tried to kiss me. Two “hang-out” dates and not even a peck on the check goodbye. I must have cooties or something. The girls got it in their head that it was romantic and he was a gentleman, blah blah blah. Maybe I shouldn’t have told them anything. Now they all want to see him. I won’t even say meet, because they all want to see him, preferably in a uniform first. If we ever become an item, then they will care more about meeting him. However, I don’t think we ever will since Greg obviously isn’t interested.
Dating Idol - Day 79
I am on my way out to hit the clubs. I’m still debating in my head whether to look for a fling, since I forfeited my travel affair, or to let it go. Even though I thought I had a great time with Greg – again – he hasn’t called and he hasn’t even been online. The uniform idea was a turn on at first, but maybe it was all a line. He probably isn’t a cop, but another Nigerian pal who has too many women to try to scam. Wait. I met him and he didn’t ask for money. He even paid for my drinks. Nevermind. I just need to go and unwind with the girls.
Now my debate is trashy chic or classy urban gal. I didn’t know what I was in the mood for. Actually, I did, but I had to bite down on that thought. Jeans didn’t work right in the clubs. Or at least the “hip” people didn’t wear jeans. Some guys did, and a few gals who didn’t hit the club scene often enough to know any better did.
Dating Idol - Day 80
The club was fun and all, however after the club was the most fun. I drove Beth and Claire tonight, so I was the designated driver. Which was fine by my surly mood of late. We were driving home – relatively early by our usual standards – and a cop pulls me over. I didn’t think I was speeding. I know I wasn’t drunk. I figured this would complete my bad mood and lo and behold. It is Greg pulling me over.
He walks up all nice to the car and just grins. I didn’t know if I should be relieved or pissed. Now what? Then he smiled and that dimple made me a goner. He said – and when it came out, I thought the girls were going to die – I knew it was your car and I hadn’t talked in awhile. I just wanted to say Hi.
Hi, he wanted to say HI.
He said he kept forgetting to get my phone number, so he figured he would pull me over instead of following us home. I laughed. He made my night. Oh hell, who am I kidding? My week. I wrote my cell phone on a sheet of paper that the girls shoved in my hands and was off.
And his uniform is navy blue by the way.
Dating Idol - Day 81
Well, Greg had my cell number and he called today. He asked me out for dinner and I tried to play it cool, running through my appointment book in my head. Yeah, like I have dates with anybody besides my girlfriends lately. I debated for a minute to try to pretend I was busy tonight, but I decided against it. He didn’t seem the type to play games or even tolerate them. I let my guard down and said sure I was free.
I met him at the restaurant since I wasn’t letting my guard down completely. He had to earn getting my address privilege still. We went out for sushi and he surprised me. He knew all kinds of stuff about sushi and Japanese food I had never heard of. I can honestly say I had a great time. I think I honestly trust this man. Well, I must because I went out of my mind again. I invited him over for dinner. Dinner!
I gave up the address without much of a fight. Hell, it was no fight since I offered it.
Dating Idol - Day 82
When I came to my senses this morning, I panicked. I immediately sent out an SOS to whoever was available for lunch that day. I needed a consult and fast. I told them my dilemma.
What the hell was I thinking?
Me, cook?
I can’t cook diddly unless it involves boxes and easy to read instructions. Beth is a great cook, but she just laughed at me. Everyone had ideas and was tossing them out left and right. They were remembering the times when I did come up with good dishes at various times. So, I could make spinach salad, caramel brownies, taco dip, deviled eggs and strawberry cupcakes to serve. Ha! They were a funny crowd.
Then my never let me down, voice of reason put her two cents in. Beth simply claimed, order take out.
Huh?
We all stared at her in surprise.
You didn’t promise him a home cooked meal, did you?
Of course not, I told her. I said we could eat at my place. Ta dah! She said. Eat means anything edible. Order BBQ or chicken or pizza. Problem solved. I love my friends!!
Dating Idol - Day 83
Well, I’m not sure how the date went, overall. It started out great. He loves BBQ, so we ordered ribs and chicken and got really messy with the sauce. And I ordered all of the sides to top it off, coleslaw, beans, and biscuits. Mmmm. He brought over some beer, so we were set for a few hours. Until I got too comfortable.
I forgot to turn off my cell phone, so the cell phone and the home phone rang intermittently, with hang up messages. After about the fifth time, he looked at me funny. I just shrugged.
Then he asked if I had a boyfriend already. Umm, no. So I spilled the beans and told him about my little pest, or who I thought was my pest.
To say he went nuts would be, well, an understatement. I’m surprised to he didn’t drive me straight to the police station to file a report. Once he calmed down, after telling me twenty times that it was harassment and stalking, he seemed normal again. We finished the movie and he went home. Without a kiss. Without a schedule of another date.
I think I blew it.
