Dont Become The Victim Of Dating Scams
Online dating scams have grown in popularity over recent years. In fact many online dating sites now warn you of the dangers of dating online before you join. These websites warn you to watch out for dating scammers who just want to steal your money.
While dating online can be a great way to meet Mr. or Mrs. Right, it is always a good idea to think with your head not your heart.
Now I dont know about you but I’m a sucker for a blue eyed blond. Us woman all have our little things about men that make us swoon but we also have heart strings that these good looking men seem to know how to tug at just right. I’ve been there too and have learnt the hard way that some men and even some woman are heartless when it comes to love, exploiting lonely peoples feelings for their own financial benefit.
These dating scammers create very attractive online profiles that would render most woman powerless, if only their profiles were true. They also find an attractive picture most likely not them, to attract their single heartfelt victims. Once they establish your trust, they ask you for more personal information such as your bank account information and personal address. After they have that you most likely will never hear from them ever again.
Some tell tale signs of a dating scammer can include, but are definitely not limited to...a request to send the scammer cash by money transfer or asking you to cash money orders, that you did not know were fraudulent and then send them cash, and having your bank holding you responsible. All the while, you have no way to get a hold of this person except through e-mail, or the internet. Many will have a great looking picture and a sob story that pulls at your heart strings. If you hardly know someone or have never met them, don’t give out your personal information. It's sad to say it but we don’t live in an honest world so protect yourself from these online criminals.
The most popular sob stories are..."I would love to meet you but I don’t have enough money to travel, could you help me out and I’ll pay you back" or "I have to pay a bill right away but don’t have enough money and don’t get paid for a couple of weeks can you help out and I'll pay you back" PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE watch out for these sob stories or if something about the person just doesn’t feel right.
To avoid dating scams never ever give any personal information to someone you have never met before face to face. That includes your social security number, address, credit card or bank account numbers, or anything else that someone could end up stealing your money, or your identity with.
Always remember to trust your gut instinct, use common sense when dating online, think with your head not your heart, and just because they might be good looking doesn’t mean that they are always good.
